Valentine’s Day in Vancouver is synonymous with rain. February 14th falls right in the middle of Vancouver’s rainy (and sometimes white) winters and it’s sunny spring season which makes for beautiful wedding and engagement photography. Take your pick between breathtaking white tipped mountains as your backdrop or the vibrant colours of Vancouver's spring flowers, either way Vancouver is a prime location for your photos. Here is my top 5 for engagement and wedding photography locations in Vancouver.

1. Gastown

This amazing pocket of Vancouver is located directly next to downtown Vancouver and nestled into Vancouver’s harbour. Gastown is an extremely popular spot for tourists and locals alike and is home to the iconic steam clock as well as gorgeous brick work and historical buildings which make a beautiful backdrop for your engagement or valentine’s day photos.

2. Granville Island

This is a popular spot all year round and is littered with hidden gems that provide a beautiful backdrop for engagement photography regardless of Vancouver’s fickle weather. Granville Island is home to over 300 independent shops as well as renowned Emily Carr Creative University.  One of the advantages to having your engagement photos taken at Granville Island is the vast amount of colourful backgrounds and the rich diversity of the location. You could easily spend an hour here and leave with beautiful photos that look to have been shot at several different locations all without ever leaving Granville Island.

3. Cypress Mountain

Vancouver is known for its rain but you don’t have to look far to find snow to capture breathtaking engagement photos. Cypress mountain is located just north of Vancouver and before Horseshoe Bay which makes it a prime location in the Vancouver area. A valentine’s day engagement shoot in the snowy white mountains renders beautiful results that will last a lifetime.

4. Coal Harbour & Canada Place

Coal harbour is a short distance to downtown Vancouver and boasts fantastic mountain views of North Vancouver and Stanley park. The unique Vancouver flavour of Coal Harbour makes this spot a great place for engagement photos. Canada place is right next to it and is home to the 2010 Olympic Torch and holds a distinct urban city feel which makes for fantastic engagement photos on Valentines Day or any other day.

5. Capilano Suspension Bridge

This famous Vancouver landmark is located in North Vancouver, which is just over the bridge from downtown Vancouver. Nestled within the rainforest and suspended 230 ft over the Capilano river. Capilano Suspension Bridge is a dream engagement photo location is home to 27 acres of unspoiled rainforest waiting to be apart of your love story.
